ALEC Model Legislation - How Much Is In Your State???

How much ALEC  "model legislation" do you have introduced in your state?

I recently reviewed three reports produced by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) for legislation that was introduced in each state and their report of how many of the bills were enacted in each state.

Some caveats about this list:
  • The years I was able to get a hold of were not consecutive years - but this is the total of three recent years.
  • Just because your state has a low enactment rate does not mean you shouldn't keep an eye on your legislature for bills being introduced - look at New York for an example - they are number one for introducing ALEC "model legislation" and their numbers are just plain scary!
  • Of the top ten states  - New York, Florida, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Tennessee, Missouri, Georgia, Hawaii and Mississippi - introduced obscene amounts of ALEC "model legislation" - every year of the three years reported.
  • In 2010 ALEC proclaims in their document that 826 pieces of ALEC "model legislation" were introduced - but their numbers only add up to 779 (I ran them 4 times) so there is an error somewhere on their document of 43 pieces of legislation (not reported because they were probably passed at the US Congress - IMHO)

Well folks - here you go... three years of ALEC "corporate focused" legislation in your state.
And as they said on one of the pieces of ALEC literature I used:
ALEC public and private sector members,
serving on ALEC’s nine national Task Forces,
draft, introduce, debate, and vote on Model Legislation
         throughout the year.

ALEC members and those affiliated with ALEC in any manner
MUST NOT BE RE-ELECTED.

Without state and federal legislators ALEC will cease to exist and it will implode.
