Fletcher (CA-ALEC) Another ALEC liar....

Saw this - this morning and red flags went off everywhere.

Another ALEC member - denying the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).
So they can get elected to a different position.
LYING TO THE PUBLIC - becausehecan  - becauseheneedsto
I wonder what ALEC already has planned for San Diego.

In this case it is bringing ALEC to the CITY of San Diego.

CityBeat called out Nathan Fletcher for denying his affiliation to a business-backed, conservative organization called the American Legislative Exchange Council.

The group became a campaign topic when Fletcher left the Republican Party and registered as an independent. The local Democratic Party argues Fletcher is still a conservative at heart and cites his membership to the organization to back it up.

In an interview with CityBeat, however, Fletcher claimed no affiliation with the conservative group. He said, "I was never a member of ALEC."

That's false. Fletcher touted his membership to the group during a 2010 speech. When CityBeat asked about the speech, Fletcher's campaign apologized for the mistake.

"He only remembers welcoming a group of legislators -- not becoming a member," campaign spokeswoman Amy Thoma told CityBeat.

In an email, Thoma told me Fletcher is no longer a member of the organization and hadn't been a very active when he was.

HUH?

In an email, Thoma told me Fletcher is no longer a member of the organization and hadn't been a very active when he was.

Oh yeh - ALEC members think the public are dumb asses - including the press.

Fletcher conveniently dropped ALEC when it was appropriate.

If citizen activists hadn't exposed ALEC - ALEC could be secretively in San Diego city chambers.
Now we know - thanks to citizen activists and reporters.

I wonder what ALEC has planned for San Diego.

Oh, yeh, and then there is this:
Fletcher is tall,good-looking, smart, polished (maybe too much so) and moderate  …  On Wednesday, in a move reflecting long-term disillusionment and in an effort to shake up the campaign, Fletcher said he is leaving the Republican Party. He is becoming an independent. In his announcement video, he railed against the strategy he saw in both parties — the unwillingness to negotiate with the other side to keep it from being able to take credit for any accomplishment.
Leaving the GOP – eh?
Leaving ALEC – eh?
Bullcrap – He’s just a liar!

ALEC - just a momentary phase for him - eh?
WRONG!!
ALEC - Not active at all - eh?
WRONG!!

A snip from an article from the Reason Foundation:
California Assemblyman NathanFletcher (R-San Diego) has co-authored a new budget reform bill intended to bring greater accountability and sense to the budgeting process.

And one of the references at the bottom of the page is
» State Budget Reform Toolkit (A joint project of the American Legislative Exchange Council, Reason Foundation, Americans for Tax Reform, The Mercatus Center at George Mason University, Washington Policy Center, Evergreen Freedom Foundation, and State Budget Solutions)
Coincidence – I think NOT!!

He has pictures of him greeting ALEC members to San Diego on his MAYORAL election webpage
Definitely NOT something I would brag about.
Probably showing the ALEC profit sector members what city assets they can buy if he is mayor.
BUT – he’ll probably delete those.

Why do I say that - cause he is already deleting ALEC stuff from his background.
A Google search of Fletcher will pull up this

He REMOVED this webpage from his mayoral website:
This is what you find now:

This is what he removed:

Evidently - he is now embarrassed that:
This morning Nathan was pleased to speak to the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).

This morning’s event was sponsored by Bayer Corporation.  Thank you to President and CEO Greg Babe for hosting an outstanding event. And a special thanks to Derek Naten, Director of Government Affairs, for the invitation.

Remember this from the first article I cited????
He said, "I was never a member of ALEC."

"He only remembers welcoming a group of legislators -- not becoming a member," campaign spokeswoman Amy Thoma told CityBeat

Oh, my.......................lie, lie, lie
..

And in the documents that were released by Common Cause in support of their request for an IRS investigation into ALEC it is noted that in
2010 – Nathan Fletcher was a member of the
ALEC Health and Human Services Task Force
HUH?
campaign spokeswoman Amy Thoma   …  Thoma told me Fletcher is no longer a member of the organization and hadn't been a very active when he was.
Not very active – eh??????

Remember this from the first article I cited????
He said, "I was never a member of ALEC."

"He only remembers welcoming a group of legislators -- not becoming a member," campaign spokeswoman Amy Thoma told CityBeat

Oh, my.......................lie, lie, lie

AND Fletcher was a speaker at the ALEC Annual Meeting in San Diego in 2010
Jim Epperson, AT&T andALEC Private Enterprise Board Chairman for 2010 along with Representative Tom Craddick (TX), ALEC National Chairman 2010, moderated each day’s keynote sessions and introduced conference speakers, as well presiding over the award ceremonies. Governors Rick Perry from Texas and Joe Manchin from West Virginia gave keynote addresses along with Randall Stephenson, President and CEO of AT&T, Nathan Fletcher, State Assemblyman representing California’s 75th district,

Remember this from the first article I cited????
He said, "I was never a member of ALEC."

"He only remembers welcoming a group of legislators -- not becoming a member," campaign spokeswoman Amy Thoma told CityBeat

Oh, my.......................lie, lie, lie

And just like a good little ALECer – he signed ALEC member – Grover Norquist’s Americans for Tax Reform , No New Taxes Pledge.

Oh and by the way – the Ogilvy Group – for which Fletcher is a Senior Advisor is noted as doing this
In February 2007, Ogilvy PRannounced that The Federalist Group, a lobbying firm that Ogilvy had purchased in 2005, was changing its name to Ogilvy Government Relations. "Ogilvy Government Relations has earned an unsurpassed reputation for successful legislative and regulatory advocacy as it has transitioned from a Republican focus to a large, bipartisan firm," enthused an Ogilvy PR press release. [6]
From ALEC
ALEC’s mission is to promote free markets, limited government,
and federalism throughout the states.

And in addition to that – Ogilvy’s clients include such ALEC past and present members as:
Bayer Corporation – oh yeh, they are mentioned above as sponsoring Fletcher's ALEC event.
    Abbott Laboratories
    American Chemistry Council
    Cargill, Inc
    DuPont
    Medtronic
    Novartis
    Pfizer Inc.
    Pizza Hut

And I have to throw in this big SCOTT WALKER DONOR
    Johnsonville Sausage

Probably all Fletcher's clients – that he senior advises for.

Oh well, another ALEC member who
started to get out of ALEC
- only when his political aspirations got bigger.
Another ALEC liar.

He's a user
He used ALEC when he needed to
and now
will use anything he can and do anything he can to get elected mayor of San Diego.

ALEC members do think they are god and the public/press is DUMB.

Update June 3
There are much better choices:
