North Dakota is a red state.

Nothing verifies that better than this posting from HuffPo just before the 2012 election.

WASHINGTON -- North Dakota Republicans have sent mail to voters in legislative districts across the eastern part of the state saying that only Republican legislators will be able to make decisions in the state.

The mail piece, which has brought anger from Democrats, asks if residents want their state legislator to have a seat at the table to make decisions. The text explains that Republicans control the state government and will be making decisions.

Mock, who is running in the 42nd District, called the GOP message either "partisan arrogance at its best and voter intimidation at its worst."

"Furthermore, their tone insinuates that only Republicans are welcome at the table during North Dakota's legislative process." Mock said. "This is not only arrogant, but insulting to those who've fought to create and preserve our democracy.

We get it - North Dakota is a Red State.

Just because North Dakota is a red state – does not mean it has to be an ALEC state.

Just because North Dakota is a red state – does not mean that it needs to let the ALEC corporate Profit Sector members control the legislation that is introduced in North Dakota.

We just went through an election – one person, one vote – that is important.

Make sure your vote counts in the future – by making sure that ALEC legislators don’t bring ALEC corporate legislation to North Dakota in the future.

REally, North Dakota, do you want ALEC Corporate Profit SEctor members from across the United States - defining the legislation that North Dakota needs?  Don't think so.

Here’s what you need to know.

Now is the time to start – to make sure the American Legislative Exchange council is not re-elected in North Dakota in 2014.

North Dakota has an interesting election process.

Approximately one-half the members are elected to four-year terms every two years.

Two candidates from each party run and get elected in each district – it can split one Dem, one Rep – but it appears that it seldomg does.

House and Senate sit for only 80 days in odd-numbered years

Friday, I went to the state election results page and that was a waste – hadn’t been updated.

So I got some of my confirmations from the “Tentative 2013 Representatives List”

Dave	Weiler	Did not run for re-election in 2012.  Petitions were started for him to resign in 2009 and 2010.  The Governor asked him to resign in March of 2010. David Weiler pleaded guilty in April 2009 to Class B misdemeanor simple assault for assaulting his wife on March 27. He was given a one-year deferred imposition of sentence, On March 11, 2010 Weiler was arrested after his wife called the authorities to say that he had punched her in the face. It is the second time in less than a year that Weiler was arrested for domestic assault. 2010 charge was dropped – he and his wife were “working it out”.  His state bio in 2011 shows him “single”.

Heidi Heitkamp will not seek the Democratic nomination to run for the U.S. Senate, she announced Wednesday, but she might make a bid for governor in 2012.
